CREAMERY BOUTIQUE ICE CREAMS OPENS IN SINGAPORE FEAT. LAVA COOKIES!!!

Sunday, February 26, 2017

Step aside Lava Cakes, LAVA COOKIES are the new IN Thing with Creamery Boutique Ice Creams, originating from Bangkok, now opening their first outlet in Singapore earlier this year along the Jalan Besar cafe area. If you've noticed, lava cookies are beginning to become a thing with other cafes adopting this similar concept in recent months.

My first experience with Lava Cookies was last year at Kooks Creamery and I thought it was a really interesting concept. If you love cookie dough and all that lava flowy dessert stuff, the lava cookies at Creamery Boutique will surely impress you!

The small cafe is hidden along Tyrwhitt Road (opposite Jalan Besar Stadium) around the popular Jalan Besar cafe area (or that's what I call it). Other relatively well-known cafes in the vicinity include Refinery Cafe, The Tiramisu Hero, Two Bakers, and The Bravery Cafe. I'd definitely love to return to the area again to check all those places off my list!

Creamery Boutique is a really small cafe but so much effort was put into giving the place a really nice decoration and creating an extremely homey feel. The service staff at the cafe were also extremely friendly and enthusiastic about introducing to us this whole lava cookie concept and the history of Creamery Boutique (apparently there are a total of 6 outlets in the region with another in JB and now the most recent addition in Singapore).

Their lava cookie menu currently has 5 variations with 3 of them having a lava filling inside (so the other 2 are technically just cookies). Popular picks include the
Chocolate Lava Cookie ($8.90)- Cookie with chocolate filling,
Red Devil ($8.90)- which is actually Red Velvet cookie with cream cheese filling,
and Monster Matcha ($8.90)- Cookie with green tea filling

All cookie sets come with a scoop of ice cream of your choice.

What's so special about their ice-cream is that they are all made in-house and they come in extremely unique flavours! Their most original one was definitely the Black Dog (Guinness Stout flavour) and it tasted really interesting...although I personally wouldn't have it with my cookie!

//CHOCOLATE LAVA COOKIE with BERRY CHEESECAKE ICE-CREAM// $8.90

So it was recommended that the chocolate lava cookie be paired with a fruity flavour to neutralise the chocolate-ness of the lava filing. We decided to give the combination a try and it was spot on!
The cookie itself was really really impressively baked, with each warm mouthful really melting in your mouth. Couple that with the nice warm chocolate lava + berry cheesecake ice cream, it was truly addictive! The only downside- would have been great if the cookie was bigger! (a few mouthfuls and its gone)

Rating: 8/10

Lava Cookies, a truly unique dessert with so many variations of flavours (the cookie, filling, and ice cream) to experiment with. This may well be a passing trend but hey, it's worth a try for now!
