PUNGGOL'S MOST POPULAR CAFE: WHISK & PADDLE

Friday, December 16, 2016

Believe it or not, Punggol is becoming an increasingly happening neighbourhood with the recent openings of Coney Island, Punggol Waterway Park, Punggol Waterway Point, AND the LATEST addition of Punggol SAFRA! Oh yes, and let's not forget The Punggol Settlement as well where so many great seafood restaurants can be found! Happening indeed! Many cafes and eateries are popping up but the most popular cafe still has to be Whisk & Paddle!

I must say though that this Cafe is located at a rather ulu location, quite far away from the main Punggol area where the waterway is located. If you're going there by public transport, you can take the LRT to Riviera Station. Ulu-ness aside, the cafe is located amongst a really chill neighbourhood along Tebing Lane (not Teh-Bing) and it faces the Punggol reservoir which ultimately leads to the Coney Island area. You'll see many cyclists and people hiking around the area especially in the evening. I like this cafe because it's situated right in the heart of nature and the view can be quite breathtaking and theraputic:

That lush greenery

The cafe is relatively large and spacious, consisting of an indoor as well as alfresco area. Really love the ambience here and it's definitely a great place for you to visit if you simply need to chill out or take in some nature. I would recommend you going for a mini hike after your visit to the cafe because the parks around here are quite a sight, notably the Lorong Halus Wetland (where the famous Lorong Halus bridge can be found).

Besides their usual menu, Whisk & Paddle has a special weekend Brunch menu which includes Brunch specials such as their Eggs Benedict and Bacon & Egg Waffle. Besides food, they also serve homemade desserts and pastries.

Weekday/Weekend Menu: 4pm-1030pm
Weekend Brunch Menu: 930am-245pm

I got to try some of their popular dishes such as their Crabmeat Linguine and Ham & Pineapple Thin Crust Pizza, along with an Iced Latte. All of them were really good!

//HAM & PINEAPPLE THIN CRUST PIZZA// $17.80

Honey-Baked Ham, Bacon, Pineapple, Bell Pepper, Sunny-Side-Up and Spicy BBQ Sauce

The pizza was really flavourful and not too overwhelming. Perfect mix of ingredients and tastier than many other Hawaiian pizzas I've had. The Spicy BBQ sauce made the difference and the sunny side up egg yolk also added much taste to every thin crust slice.
Other interesting thin crust pizza flavours to note include Duck & Lychee, Butter Prawns, and Pulled Pork.

//CRABMEAT LINGUINE// $17

Linguine and Crabmeat cooked in Spicy Tomato Sauce

Really loved this one, not the best I've tried but it was really fragrant! Portion was quite big and filling too! Being a fan of crabmeat pasta, I'd say do give it a try!

Overall, experience at Whisk & Paddle was very good. Although location a little bit ulu and food slightly pricey, it's definitely worth visiting if you're heading to Punggol for the day! With Punggol becoming an increasingly popular area for outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling, it's great to know that there are cafes such as Whisk & Paddle around as much needed chill spots!
