[PICK OF THE WEEK] HIDDEN GEM OF THE WEST: ENAQ RESTAURANT

Thursday, January 12, 2017

Who says there's no good food in the West?

Hidden gems can be found round every corner! This week's pick features ENAQ Restaurant, a recently revamped Indian coffee shop-restaurant very popular for their crispy prata! In fact, it has even been labeled by many as the go-to Prata Place of the West!

Located along Jurong East Street 32, ENAQ Restaurant now occupies the unit to the left of the coffee shop at Block 303.

ENAQ is very popular among Westies and people have to wait quite awhile just to get a table during meal times.

ENAQ serves the standard dishes you'd expect to see at a prata place, including prata, thosai, murtabak, goreng and briyani.

I'd consider the dishes slightly pricier than usual but the standard of the food is also definitely higher than usual!

//MILO DINOSAUR// $2.80

The milo dinosaur here's really special cause they actually blend the milo and ice into a slush and add additional toppings as well! A really unique milo dino!

//PLAIN PRATA// $1
//EGG PRATA// $1.70 (In Photo)
//EGG ONION// $2
//EGG CHEESE// $2.70

When I first tried the prata here, I was genuinely impressed by their quality! The prata here are large, crispy, and not too oily! The prata here are all served together with ikan bilis belachan chilli as well as curry on a metal plate.
I'd dare say the savoury prata here are one of the best I've ever tried so far!

Rating: 8/10

//BOMB PRATA// $1.80 (In Photo)
//PEANUT BUTTER PRATA// $2 (In Photo)

I particularly enjoyed the peanut butter prata, it was extremely crispy and filled with a rich peanut butter spread inside. The bomb prata tasted more ordinary, just like any other bomb prata I've tasted.

ENAQ has a rather unique menu of pratas, including other interesting-sounding ones such as Cheesy Banana Prata ($3), Otah-Otah Prata ($2.50), as well as Apple Pie Prata ($3.50).

For the standard here, I'd say the prata at ENAQ are value for money!

//MAGGIE GORENG// $3.50

Really tasty with just the right (sweet and spicy) chilli by the side! At only $3.50, I'd say this is a steal!

ENAQ Restaurant is truly a hidden gem of the West and people who stay around the area are really blessed to have great prata within their vicinity! I would definitely return here many more times for their amazingly quality crispy prata, and I hope they continue to maintain this standard even with their really good business all year round!
